Our dual degrees and programs with the Duke School of Medicine include 1-year and 2-year options with the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program; and an option that integrates with the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (O.T.D.) 3-year program.

Doctor of Medicine/Certificate in Theology and Health Care

One-Year Track

We offer an option to complete a one-year Certificate in Theology and Health Care alongside your Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program. Completed during your third year of your School of Medicine program, you'll join us at Duke Divinity School for the residential TMC Fellowship. You'll complete 6 graduate courses (3 each semester), while you complete two required Duke School of Medicine courses, take your medical board exams, and complete a mentored third-year project. 

Doctor of Medicine/Master of Theological Studies Program

Two-Year Program

You can earn a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degree alongside your Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program in 2 years. Completed during your third year of your School of Medicine program and during an extra year, you'll join us at Duke Divinity School for the residential TMC Fellowship. In your third year of medical school, you'll take 6-8 graduate courses (3-4 each semester), while you complete two required Duke School of Medicine courses. In your extra year, you'll be on leave/extension at the School of Medicine, and you'll take your remaining courses to complete your M.T.S. degree and complete a mentored third-year project.

Occupational Therapy Doctorate/Certificate in Theology and Health Care

Three-Year Joint Program

Our three-year joint program with the Duke School of Medicine Occupational Therapy Doctorate (O.T.D.) program enables you to earn a O.T.D. degree alongside our Certificate in Theology and Health Care. You'll engage in coursework and formational activities during your three years, and the program integrates with the O.T.D. Capstone and Formation for Service Series.
