Funding Your Education
At Duke Divinity School, our financial aid staff is here to assist you with finding a wide variety of sources to make your time here affordable. For more information, visit the Funding Your Education section.
Divinity School Scholarships
All students admitted to the M.Div., M.T.S., M.A., D.Min., and Th.D. qualify for a scholarship. Additional merit-based scholarship funds may also be available.
Residential M.Div. Field Education
In addition to scholarships, students fund their education through employment via the work-study program, federal loans, denominational support, or field education. Residential M.Div. students are required to complete two field education placements in which you can earn $10,000 per experience (students can complete up to 3 paid placements during their program). Field education serves as a form of financial aid for residential M.Div. students that can help to defray the costs of your education.
Federal Aid
To be considered for grants and work-study opportunities, you will be required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSAs must be submitted before Financial Aid Award Notification can be provided.
Denominational Support
A certified candidate for ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church attending Duke Divinity School may also be eligible for Ministerial Education Fund support. Contact the Ministerial Education Fund Coordinator of the Board of Ordained Ministry in your Annual Conference for application and award requirements.
