Many local churches, conferences, or other governing bodies provide gifts and grants for theological education, such as ministerial education funds that provide grants and/or service loans to theological students. The student makes application to the home church, annual conference, presbytery, or other governing body. The financial aid office cooperates with these church agencies in making recommendations and in handling the funds. United Methodist students and others must be under the care of the appropriate church body to be eligible for church support.
