The Center for Reconciliation nurtures a theological imagination and embodied practices that strengthen Duke Divinity School’s calling to form Christian leaders who serve God’s work of transformation and reconciliation. Through spiritual and theological formation, practical tools for conflict transformation and reconciliation ministry, and opportunities for students to participate in its mission through work study, coursework, and mentoring, the CFR seeks to equip the body of Christ in North Carolina, across the U.S., and throughout the world to live as agents of God’s healing and hope.
Academic Courses
As one of the country's premiere centers for theological learning, Duke Divinity has a historical commitment to advance the theology and practice of reconciliation. In addition to WXTIAN 845 Foundations for Conflict Transformation: Theology, Theory and Practice, many faculty members offer classes and advanced seminars relevant to transformation and reconciliation issues.
Sacred Circles
The CFR hosts Sacred Circles at Duke Divinity for students, faculty and staff members. This community practice offers a space for participants to come together to connect, reflect, and support one another.
CFR Conversation Series
The Center for Reconciliation hosts a series of conversations meant to introduce individuals and organizations working on particular aspects of just peace, transformation, and reconciliation. The goal of this series is to encourage the surrounding community to think theologically and nourish their moral imagination to effectively deal with the challenges facing our communities and our world.
CFR Fellows and Friends
The CFR hosts monthly community potlucks to cultivate fellowship and discuss issues of the day and the impact they have on our lives and communities. Attendees include current and former students, local faith leaders, and Divinity staff and faculty. All are welcome.
