Personal Development Manager

The Personal Development Manager is responsible for supporting and strengthening employees’ emotional, relational and character growth as employees are willing to engage and participate in improving these areas of their lives. Employee involvement is voluntary. 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned): • Develop relationships with employees to create freedom to be transparent and honest about areas of one’s life that are opportunities for personal growth. • Meet with employees to discuss areas of concern, potential personal growth, spiritual development or character development. Hold employees accountable to follow through on the areas of growth the employee has identified as a growth opportunity. • Help employees think through and devise strategies for taking steps to grow in the identified areas of personal development. • Engage with employees in regular weekly/bi-weekly/monthly mentoring on specific topics of personal development. • Provide prayer opportunities for employees who are interested and support them in times of need. • Lead Bible studies throughout the year in the office and chosen job-sites on topics that are relevant to personal growth. These studies are non-denominational and participation is voluntary. • Create and lead opportunities throughout the year for team building exercises to promote unity and team spirit among the different regions and divisions. • Lead a 20-30 minute motivational/inspirational talk to the regional meetings each month/quarter as regional/divisional leaders see fit. • Lead devotional/inspirational talks to different groups (Safety, Superintendents, etc...) within the company. • Work with senior level management teams on internal relationships and how to best work through areas of difficulty and dysfunction. • Visit job-sites during the year to maintain relationships with employees not working in an office location. • Provide emotional support for employees enduring emotionally difficult events in life. 

Education/Qualifications/Experience/Skills: • Bachelor degree in related field • Seminary degree preferred but not required • Proven experience working with people in a relationship building/mentoring role (such as ministry, counseling, or mentoring) • Experience in mentoring and or spiritual direction at a one on one basis and small group level. • Excellent communication and listening skills • Ability to provide coaching rather than counseling to employees • Integrity and high character in his/her own personal life. • Must have the ability to relate and connect with all levels of the company, both field and office. • Ability to speak to a large group. • Agreement with and commitment to Brasfield & Gorrie values. • Commitment to continue growing in their own personal development.

First-Year Chaplain Residency

A CPE Residency at the Durham VA Health Care System (DVAHCS) is a unique opportunity to learn the art of spiritual care. Our residency program offers the opportunity to earn four units of CPE with an exciting curriculum, focused on mental health and general spiritual care. Chaplain Residents at the VA are well-integrated into the Health Care System, providing essential care to veterans as part of the larger health care team. There are no tuition charges for VA clinical pastoral education and no application fees. Benefits include competitive pay, subsidized health insurance, sick leave, annual leave, and denominational leave. Residents can expect to work Monday through Friday unless otherwise negotiated, with an 8 am to 4:30 pm workday. Residents serve in worship leadership on Sundays at least once each unit. Residents do not participate in the on-call rotation. CPE students at the Durham VA Health Care System work directly with veterans on a regular basis, spending about 30 hours each week providing intentional, reflective, and supportive spiritual care. Chaplain I - Granville Correctional Institution

This position is located at Granville Correctional Institution, Butner, N.C. Granville County. Granville Correctional Institution houses male offenders in close and medium custody. This position reports to the Clinical Chaplain II. This position is responsible for planning, conducting, or coordinating and supervision of an interfaith program of religious services and providing a comprehensive program of pastoral care for a close custody maximum security correctional facility housing approximately 1012 offenders with approximately 340 employees. Applicants must submit a completed state application, a resume, a 300-600 word statement on the subject, "why I desire to be a prison chaplain", a copy of ordination certificate and a letter confirming their good standing within their denomination. Position must communicate effectively with a wide range of interdisciplinary staff, colleagues, community clergy, mental health services providers, volunteers, offenders and their families, conduct and coordinate religious education, instruction and activities, supervise offenders attending programs. Position must provide advice and counsel to the facility head and other administrators on religious and theological matters, as well as issues of staff and offender morale when appropriate. The chaplain shall be involved in research investigations and data collection on a wide range of issues; pastoral programmatic, and interfaith.

Applicant must have basic knowledge to apply constitutional principles and key court decisions pertaining to religious practices for equal treatment on an interfaith basis. Applicant must be able to comprehend and abide by policy, standard operating procedures, memoranda, legal documents and other directives governing departmental and facility activity.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
