Thriving in Ministry (TIM) Residency Program Purpose Statement: The FBC Thriving in Ministry Residency Program exists to equip and mentor Christian leaders early in their careers to lay a foundation for long-term, sustainable ministry. By providing hands-on experience, spiritual growth opportunities, and professional development, we aim to prepare residents to serve Christ with passion and purpose. About First Baptist Burlington: Situated on the edge of downtown Burlington, First Baptist occupies a unique place where diverse communities meet, including under-served and low-income neighborhoods. This position offers abundant opportunities to actively engage in meaningful ministry, meeting both spiritual and practical needs in our immediate area. With two distinct worship services—a traditional service and a modern one—our church embraces a range of worship styles to foster connection and inspire hope across generations. Over the past two years, we have spent time in prayer and intentional reflection, refining our mission and the ways we live it out. Our emphasis is on what we can do for people rather than what we can get from them, shifting our mindset to a more missional focus that prioritizes authentic service to those around us. This mission-first mindset guides our efforts to support people in every stage of life by responding to the needs around us with both hope and love. Our mission comes to life through four primary pillars: worship, service, education, and nurturing relationships. These are the means by which we seek to help others thrive—drawing closer to God through worship, extending love through service, empowering individuals through education, and fostering deep, supportive relationships. Together, these guiding principles shape our ministries and create a community where people of all backgrounds can find belonging and purpose.

Burlington, NC is less than an hour from some of North Carolina's most dynamic cities, including Winston Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham.
