Do you want to reconnect with what called you to medicine in the first place, and find ways to align your daily work with your calling as a Christian physician?
This course will help you reimagine your work and discover new ways to deal with stressors and challenges, to resist burnout, and to recover intrinsically rewarding practices of medicine.
“Intentional Practice for Christian Physicians” is a 4-week learning experience designed with the working, Christian physician in mind. Through online lessons, practical exercises, and a weekly discussion online via Zoom with your peers and course instructors, you will learn to:
- Assess your own experiences of burnout and vitality
- Use proven tools to connect with the meaning of medicine and how it fits into your Christian vocation
- Align what you do on a daily basis with what you believe is of genuine value
- Create a personalized action plan for cultivating vocationally satisfying work as a physician
This course costs $1500 and is eligible for 10.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).TM

Instructors
Josiah C. Trent Professor of Medical Humanities BA and MD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dr. Curlin is a hospice and palliative care physician who joined Duke University in January 2014 where he holds joint appointments in the School of Medicine, including its Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities & History of Medicine, and in Duke Divinity School, including its Initiative on Theology, Medicine and Culture.
Ryan Bayley, M.D. is adjunct associate professor in the Department of Surgery at Duke University.
