In this role, Antepli, who is also on the Divinity faculty, will lead the new university-wide Center for Community Engagement.
He joins three other Duke faculty who are newly appointed to the prestigious 243-year-old institution.
A January conference on climate change hosted at Duke University brought young faith leaders together to learn from Duke faculty and others, look to their own faith traditions for guidance and hope, and share strategies for responding to the climate crisis.
The award honors his work in building bridges of understanding between Jews and Muslims and for promoting peace and religious tolerance.
