In-person Online

Trauma saturates the world of theological education. Clergy and nonprofit leaders often work directly with trauma survivors and bear our own experiences of trauma. Trauma shows up in the texts of scripture and in Christian history, and religious communities today can be sites of traumatization as well as healing from traumatic experiences. What does it mean, then, to approach teaching and learning at Duke Divinity School from a trauma-informed perspective? In this seminar, we’ll discuss principles of trauma-informed education and share preliminary themes from what Duke Divinity students and faculty have shared about their experiences in a focus group study.

Lunch will be available for the first 30 in-person attendees. Register to join virtually.
