Join the Ormond Center and Duke's Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability for a public conversation on climate justice challenges in the Carolinas. Moderated by Ashley Ward, director of Duke University's Heat Policy Innovation Hub, this conversation on energy poverty during extreme heat will feature three panelists:

  • Neil Bernhard, pastor of New Wine Christian Fellowship and Chairman of St. John the Baptist Parish Long Term Recovery Group in Laplace, La.
  • Angella Dunston, community advocate and environmental justice leader at Warren County Environmental Action Team (WCEAT) in Warren County, N.C.
  • Leo Woodberry, pastor of Kingdom Living Temple and executive director of New Alpha Community Development in Florence, S.C.

This workshop brings together faith-based organizations, private sector partners, and policy experts to develop community-driven solutions and innovate financial tools to provide relief for households facing extreme heat risks.
