In-person For Alumni For Clergy For Students General Audience

The Office of Black Church Studies is sponsoring a week-long seminar exploring the autobiographical writings of Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Howard Thurman, Ida B. Wells, and other Black autobiographers and memoirists who used their life stories as weapons in the quest for freedom and humanization. Led by an instructional team of renowned scholars, this seminar will delve into the implications of these writings for vital leadership in Christian communities today. 

The seminar's schedule includes morning prayer, plenary lectures, small group discussions, film screenings, personal journaling, and reflection time.

This seminar is offered at no cost to selected participants. Space is limited. All meals and lodging will be provided throughout the week in Durham, N.C. Participants are responsible for the cost of travel to and from the seminar.
