St. Paul Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a recent seminary graduate to serve as Pastor in Residence. The Pastoral Residency Program is an intentional effort to help those who have recently matriculated through theological training to focus on the development and nurture of their pastoral identity before their first congregational call. Over the course of two years the pastoral resident will serve as a fulltime member of the pastoral staff and will be immersed in the depth of congregational life. There will be opportunities to serve in the development of family life ministry, to learn the roots of faith based organizing, and to engage in the full range of pastoral leadership as it is understood at St. Paul. Pastoral residents will also have the opportunity to learn about and experience firsthand the nationally renowned MAAFA suite, which is a community based journey through the transatlantic slave trade and a celebration of the African diaspora. This is an opportunity designed for those seeking to learn what it means to pastor within an urban context of a loving congregation that is Christ centered and culturally relevant. Someone with an interest in providing oversight to children and family ministry is preferred. Potential candidates should express interest by emailing a cover letter, resume, and a sermonic clip (if available) to Rev. Racquel Gill at email@example.com. Both male and female aspirants are encouraged to apply.
