Professor Lester Ruth has co-authored a book about the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship and its remarkable influence on the entire Vineyard movement, which contributed to the renewal of worship in thousands of churches since the 1980s.

The book, Worshiping with the Anaheim Vineyard: The Emergence of Contemporary Worship, was published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. as part of its series titled "The Church at Worship: Case Studies from Christian History." The series documents case studies of worshiping communities from across the world and throughout Christian history that can inform and enrich worship practices today.

A research professor of Christian worship at Duke Divinity School, Ruth co-wrote the book with Andy Park, a writer of worship songs, a longtime worship leader, and author; and Cindy Rethmeier, a worship leader and songwriter with deep ties to the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship.

The authors used interviews, personal testimonies, sermon excerpts, sidebars, timelines, and photos to take an in-depth look at founding leader John Wimber and the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship’s early years. The book tells an inspiring story of revival and renewal among people desperately hungering for a deeper knowledge of God, while also addressing core issues for Christians wanting to know and worship God more intimately.
