Lauren F. Winner, associate professor of Christian spirituality at Duke Divinity School, has written a new book introducing the story behind the Scriptures and inviting readers to engage the Word of God with curiosity and confidence.

The book, A Word to Live By: Church’s Teachings for a Changing World, Volume 7, is the seventh volume of the New Church's Teaching for a Changing World series of the Episcopal Church and was published in September by Church Publishing Inc. The series was launched by Episcopal thinkers and leaders who teamed up to write a set of books for lay and ordained church leaders, seminary students and faculty, and adult formation groups, while still being concise and accessible enough for newcomers.

This volume is described as rich in content and grounded in the Episcopal tradition, as well as filled with Winner's trademark combination of humor, authenticity, and insight. It is also contains a host of interactive study materials.

Winner, a bestselling author and priest, also wrote Girl Meets God, Mudhouse Sabbath, A Cheerful and Comfortable Faith, Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis, and Wearing God: Clothing, Laughter, Fire, and Other Overlooked Ways of Meeting God.
