Through a historical, comparative, and interdisciplinary review, this book places Christianity at the center of the analysis. It offers an in-depth look at the complex relationship between Christianity and the right in Latin America, ranging from the evolution of Catholicism to the influence of evangelicalism in various political and social contexts, such as border issues or authoritarian regimes.

Matthew Philipp Whelan is associate research professor of theology at Duke Divinity School. His research and teaching focus on Catholic social teaching, Latin American and liberation theologies, and ecological theology and ethics. He is the author of the award-winning Blood in the Fields: Óscar Romero, Catholic Social Teaching, and Land Reform (Catholic University of America Press, 2020).
