Emmaus Way, a progressive Durham church, is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and open-minded individual to work with our preschool age children (3-5 year olds) on a weekly basis. An ideal candidate would: Have experience working with preschoolers Be excited to help children ask faith questions, explore scripture, and engage in spiritual practices Be comfortable leading a short circle-time with a Bible story, songs, and activities. Be warm, creative, and inclusive in their work with children Be energetic and mobile to engage in activities with children Be dependable in meeting responsibilities and communicative regarding their needs Our pastoral staff would particularly love the opportunity to support a divinity student who is exploring ministry with children of different ages and who might want mentorship around curriculum development and classroom management. Our worship gathering runs from 4:00-5:30 pm on Sunday nights. The position requires approximately 2-3 hours of work per week: 2 hours in-person each Sunday (3:45pm-5:45pm) and up to 1 hour of outside preparation of curriculum. Compensation is $60/week.
