Ann Street United Methodist Church is looking to add to their ministry team and grow the JOY of God’s love in the lives of children, youth, and their families! This new ministry opportunity would benefit most from someone who continues to grow in their own faith while sharing the excitement of God’s love and grace in Jesus, as they help grow the faith of children and youth within the church and community. With the support of an engaged Children and Youth Council and a caring congregation, (seriously, they are AWESOME!) the Director of Children and Youth Ministries will help establish meaningful faith opportunities for ages pre-school – 12th grade as together, we live into Ann Street UMC’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, by knowing, growing, and living God’s love! The Director will: * Work with the Children and Youth Council to plan and implement great programs for children and youth so that they can see, know, and grow, in the power of God’s love for them every single day! * Continue to invite and empower laity to serve in and support this ministry * Share the good news! Publicize activities in the church and community * Teach & grow. Select curriculum &; activities that align with the mission of ASUMC. * Be present at Sunday worship * Have regular office hours 2-3 days/week * Attend Monthly staff and Council Meetings * Be present and active in the church and the community * With help from the Children & Youth Council and the Preschool Board, continue to strengthen engagement and support of the teachers, children, and families of our amazing Pre-school! * Have fun doing all the above knowing that this is a team effort and God is guiding us!
This is a part-time position, up to 25-30 hours/week. Salary from $35,000 - 40,000 based upon experience and skill-level. Help with locating affordable housing is a possibility, if needed.
Qualifications: A growing faith in Jesus. JOY in working with children, youth, and their families. A passionate desire to help young people and their families know God’s great love for them in Jesus. A knowledge of or willingness to learn and understand the doctrine of the United Methodist Church. Plays well with others (-: This is truly a team effort!) Good communication skills and knowledge of social media platforms. Experience in family and children’s ministry is helpful, but not necessary. If limited experience, a willingness to learn through educational events. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not necessary.
