Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church (USA) is seeking a dedicated and creative Director of Children’s Ministry to provide leadership and oversight for Christian education and programming for children from birth through 5th grade. This non-ordained staff position collaborates with church staff, volunteers, and families to nurture children in faith through Sunday School, fellowship events, worship participation, and seasonal programs like Vacation Bible School. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Strong Christian faith and regular participation in a church community. Experience working with children (church or educational setting preferred.) Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers. Familiarity with Presbyterian Church (USA) and reformed protestant tradition a plus. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: -Provide coordination and planning with the formation committee of the Sunday School programming, including training, recruitment, support of and communication with volunteers, and curriculum development. -Provide oversight and management of children’s programs to provide age-appropriate opportunities for each stage of childhood development related to a meaningful Christian journey. -Develop robust programming in connection with Kirk Family Night including training, recruitment, support of and communication with volunteers; discipline and relationship building with the children. -Plan and coordinate with other staff members on church-wide fellowship events with special focus on children and families (Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Advent Fair, Kirk in the Park). -Work with Youth Director to develop special pre-youth 4th & 5th grade ministries. -Collaborate with other staff members on the planning of the children’s ministry calendar. -Oversee continuing growth in the children’s ministry that meets the evolving needs of families with children, including personal contact with families welcoming new babies, and ongoing communications with families to identify changing ministry needs. -Plan and oversee the annual summertime Vacation Bible School and other summer activities. -Coordinate with the Kirk Preschool leadership to provide church staff or member volunteers to lead Praise & Worship time and to integrate preschool families into the programs and ministry of the church. -Coordinate with other staff members on children’s nursery program to provide childcare for young children during Sunday worship and special events. -Collaborate with other staff to recruit and train children for acolyte services, and to schedule and supervise them as they serve. -Coordinate and occasionally lead Children’s Time during the Sunday morning service. -Work with Minister of Music to coordinate children’s participation in worship. -Perform other duties as may be assigned by the head of staff.
