Project BRI(DDD)GE (Building Relationships In Durham through Duke Divinity Graduate Education) is a program for entering students that seeks to nurture Christian outreach within the Durham community and bridge areas of separation.

About Project BRI(DDD)GE

Since 1991, Project BRI(DDD)GE alumni and Divinity staff have led hundreds of incoming students on a theological journey through Durham’s history of racial tension and inequities, recognizing the brokenness that white supremacy has caused. Together, pilgrims from all Divinity degree and certificate programs take advantage of opportunities to join in and celebrate the efforts of local churches and community organizations to identify and work to repair and reconcile this brokenness as they seek to build a bridge between what is and what Scripture names as love for neighbor. Project BRI(DDD)GE combines the initial study of historic and specific practices and policies that ensure and perpetuate racism against Black, brown, and Asian bodies with practical ministry models in the Durham community.

Fellowship is a fundamental part of the time together. Entering and returning student leaders worship, reflect theologically, eat together, tour the city, visit historic sites, and take in a Durham Bulls baseball game (when possible).

All students in all academic and certificate programs are invited to apply to participate. Team members from diverse backgrounds, with diverse ministerial callings, covenant to meet together throughout the academic year for prayer, fellowship, theological reflection, and service.
