Dr. Train directs the Certificate in Theology and the Arts program at Duke Divinity and teaches a range of courses at the intersection of theology and the arts, often with a focus on literature. He co-edited The Saint John’s Bible and its Traditions and is currently completing a manuscript on Flannery O’Connor.

DITA Welcomes Matthew Rushing to Duke Divinity School
Rushing will serve as an artist-in-context at Duke Divinity School, studying the negro spiritual with faculty and developing a new iteration of his 2024 Ailey ballet "Sacred Songs" for debut at Duke in April 2026.
