“Whether you plan to pastor a congregation, lead a local nonprofit organization, or minister beyond church walls, the Certificate in Nonprofit Management provides essential management skills needed for effective leadership. These courses will help you to develop theologically-grounded, deployable skills and practices to lead faithfully and wisely in a variety of contexts.”

The Certificate in Nonprofit Management, delivered through a two-course sequence at Duke Divinity School, provides a theological framework for nonprofit management in tandem with expert instruction from established practitioners and scholars from a variety of disciplines within the nonprofit sector. The certificate includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of nonprofit management: board development & governance, financial management, fundraising, marketing & communications, understanding communities & contexts, planning & evaluation, human resource management, and leadership.

While the courses do not need to be taken in sequential semesters, both courses must be completed in order to earn the Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management, administered by the Duke Nonprofit Management program. The credential for the certificate is also managed by the Duke Nonprofit Management program.
