Practice & Presence 2024

Mental health is a hot topic impacting all areas of health care and the broader culture. This year’s Practice & Presence gathering invites participants of all backgrounds to pause and reflect on the contours of mental health in an unsettled age.

We all experience mental health challenges—loss, loneliness, fear, and sadness. We commonly hear friends, colleagues, congregants, patients, and family members express feelings of fragmentation and unease or a sense of being overwhelmed. Anxiety regarding work, family, community, and the planet unsettles our sense of who we are and what we can hope for. How can Christian theology shape our understanding of mental health? How might Christian faith inspire us to attend well to ourselves, our loved ones, and those in our care in the face of mental health challenges.

The Theology, Medicine, and Culture Initiative at Duke Divinity School invites you to register for Practice & Presence: A Gathering for Christians in Health Care, to be held in Goodson Chapel on September 13-14, 2024.
