Grant Wacker, Gilbert T. Rowe Professor Emeritus of Christian History at Duke Divinity School, is among several acclaimed experts in American religious history who examine major historical moments of American evangelicalism in a new book published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company.

In Turning Points in the History of American Evangelicalism, Wacker joins Harry S. Stout, George M. Marsden, and other top scholars in writing essays about one of America’s most dynamic movements. The collection of essays was edited by Heath W. Carter and Laura Rominger Porter.

Each chapter in the book was written by one of the world's top experts in American religious history and together forms a single narrative of evangelicalism's development from a small movement to a central player in the American religious story.

Wacker’s essay was on Billy Graham's 1949 Los Angeles revival, which marked Graham’s emergence in American evangelism. Other topics in the book include the Great Awakening, the rise of fundamentalism and Pentecostalism, and the global turn in American evangelism.

Other essay contributors in addition to Wacker and the editors are: Edith L. Blumhofer, Catherine A. Brekus, Jon Butler, Richard Carwardine, Dennis C. Dickerson, Darren Dochuk, Luke E. Harlow, Nathan O. Hatch, Mark Hutchinson, Martin E. Marty, and Marguerite Van Die.
