Duke Divinity Presents the Windrider Forum follow-up discussion of the film Burden. Join us for a discussion on the Sundance Audience Award-winning film Burden with Director Andrew Heckler and a Duke Divinity faculty and student panel. Panelists will reflect on questions such as: What does Christian theology have to learn from and to offer a film like Burden? What is distinctive about how the film presents a story and engages the imagination of its audience? And what are both the possibilities and limitations of the way a film like Burden depicts sin, forgiveness, and individual and community transformation?

The panel discussion will be moderated by the Rev. Dr. Jay Augustine, missional strategist with the Center for Reconciliation and senior pastor of Durham's historic St. Joseph AME Church, and will include both faculty and student representatives from the Office of Black Church Studies and the Center for Reconciliation.

The event is free and open to the public. Following the discussion, boxed lunch will be provided for the first 40 people. Parking may be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Bryan Student Center parking lot for $2/hr, and we strongly recommend arriving well in advance of the event. Masking is required in all indoor facilities on Duke’s campus.
