Register for the event: Theology, Medicine, and Culture Fall Seminar Series (Online)

The Theology, Medicine, and Culture Initiative at Duke Divinity School will host its annual seminar series this fall online. These semi-monthly seminars are a regular gathering of faculty, fellows, students, and others interested in the intersections of theology, medicine, and culture.

The series is open to the public but registration is required. Continuing education credit is available.

The  speakers and and available topics for the fall seminar series are:

  • September 3rd: “Pursuing Shalom in an Age of COVID 19: Some Theological Considerations” with Patrick T. Smith, PhD
  • September 17th: “Health, Wholeness, and Humanity: The Stewardship of Creation as if Matter Mattered” with Brian Volck, MD, MFA
  • October 1st:  “Shepherding Patients and Families Through End-of-Life Dilemmas” with Kathryn Butler, MD
  • October 22nd: “No Cure for Being Human” with Kate Bowler, PhD
  • November 5th: "Biblical Narratives of Healing" with Ellen Davis, PhD, and C. Kavin Rowe, PhD
  • November 12th: “Thinking about Theology and Mental Health: Bible, Spirit, and Church” with John Swinton, PhD, RMN, RN"
