In-person

The Theology, Medicine, and Culture Initiative and the Office of Field Education at Duke Divinity School are delighted to co-sponsor three Trauma-Informed Care Workshops this spring. This first workshop, given by Tara Corbett and Togor Gado, will provide an introduction to the topic of sexual trauma, including exploring how to conceptualize and respond theologically to this type of harm. Together, we will discuss relevant practical responses and implications for those providing care to survivors of sexual trauma. The workshop will make space for all vocational paths and leave time for questions and discussion, empowering students to explore how this trauma-informed lens applies to their current and future work.

Tara Corbett (she/her) is a social worker, facilitator, and advocate primarily addressing sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, and reproductive rights. She received her M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School in 2019, where she also completed the TMC Fellowship. Tara can usually be found deep in thought about the intersections of theology, faith, and her work. She lives in Durham, N.C. with her spouse and their two dogs.

Togor Gado is a social worker, facilitator, and advocate primarily addressing sexual trauma and mental health in communities of racialized minorities. Togor cares deeply about supporting climate justice efforts and integrating theology, mental health, and spiritual care in the West African context. Togor lives in Durham, N.C., and enjoys learning about plants and hanging out with Tara’s dogs.
