Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts will host poet Shane McCrae for a lunchtime lecture. McCrae is the author of eight books of poetry and the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the Whiting Writers' Award. He teaches at Columbia University and is the poetry editor for Image Journal. Born to parents of mixed race, he was raised by White supremacists who denied he was Black. Though once a staunch atheist, McCrae is now a member of the Episcopal Church. Hear his full story
