The Hispanic House of Studies is hosting The Resistance Continues: An Indigenous Colombian Perspective with María Violet Medina Quiscué, an indigenous leader from Colombia, as the featured speaker.

Quiscué is the general coordinator for the Committee of Indigenous Peoples Victims of the Armed Conflict in Bogota, a grassroots organization representing 16 indigenous groups currently living in conditions of forced displacement in Bogota, Colombia. The committee works to protect the rights of indigenous people affected by the Colombian armed conflict by preserving traditional education, healthcare, psycho-social support, and human rights advocacy at national and international levels.

The Hispanic House is pleased to co-sponsor this event with Duke Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Witness for Peace Southeast, and Witness for Peace Solidarity Collective.
