The Center for Reconciliation, in collaboration with its partner the Americas Initiative for Transformation and Reconciliation (AITR), is offering session two in the second module of the Second Institute of the Americas for Transformation and Reconciliation.
Module 2: On Lament

- Ras André Guimarâes is pastor of the Philadelphia Methodist Church in the Northeast Missionary Region (REMNE) in Brazil. He is a popular educator with a background in history and theology, a member of the Black Evangelical Movement (MNE), and affiliated with the Unified Black Movement (MNU). Guimarâes is one of the authors of the book, “Jesus and Human Rights”, published in 2018 by Usina de Valores, a project led by the Vladimir Herzog Institute.
- Benita Simón is an indigenous woman from the Maya Kaqchikel people of Guatemala. She is a specialist in issues of care, restoration, and environmental education. Simón is currently the coordinator of the Environment Program of the Centro Esdras Foundation and coordinates local advocacy projects in her hometown with the Rujotay Organization.
- Yohan Álvarez is a political scientist at the University of Antioquia in Colombia and a specialist in project management. He is the founder and National Director of Paz y Esperanza Colombia, a Christian human rights organization that is part of the Peace and Hope International Fellowship in Latin America.
All institute sessions will be conducted in Spanish, with simultaneous English and Portuguese translation available.
