The Center for Reconciliation, in collaboration with its partner the Americas Initiative for Transformation and Reconciliation (AITR), is offering session one in the third module of the Second Institute of the Americas for Transformation and Reconciliation.
Module 3: On Hope and Liberation
Session 1: Signs of hope and liberation in the Americas: The work of the Holy Spirit in contexts of pain and suffering

- Dr. Daniel Castelo is the William Kellon Quick professor of theology and methodist studies at Duke Divinity School. Dr. Castelo holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and a Masters of Divinity from Church of God Theological Seminary. During his doctoral work, Professor Castelo taught Wesleyan theology courses in Mexico, Honduras, and Brazil and then taught at a Mexican seminary for three years. Subsequently, he moved to the Pacific Northwest, where he taught for fourteen years. Castelo participated in the Central American Methodist Course of Study program and served as a doctoral mentor for the Hispanic Theological Initiative. He is currently interested in developing and connecting themes within Pan-Methodism, Latinx theology, and pneumatology to broader conversations in the fields of Christian spirituality, doctrinal theology, and constructive theology.
- Yudi Llocclla Cruz is the director of the regional office of Paz y Esperanza in Apurimac, Peru. She has a degree in education and specializes in linguistics and intercultural communication. Cruz currently leads a program that offers care and responds to the emotional, spiritual, and educational needs of Quechua children who have been orphaned during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Southern Andes of Peru.
- Luis Vásquez Garay is a chaplain and leading member at the Institute of Social Economics at the Universidad del Centro Educativo Latinoamericano (UCEL), a methodist university in Argentina. Garay is a human rights activist and pastor at "El Redentor" Methodist Church in Rosario. In cooperation with other universities, Garay is currently developing a new program in social economics and organic agriculture.
