The Center for Reconciliation, in collaboration with its partner the Americas Initiative for Transformation and Reconciliation (AITR), is offering the first session in the fourth module of the Second Institute of the Americas for Transformation and Reconciliation.

Session 1: Becoming Agents for Peaceful Coexistence in Contexts of Polarization and Conflict
Key presenters: Dr. Rolando Peréz (Peru) and Violeta Rocha (Nicaragua)
- Dr. Rolando Pérez is associate professor and researcher in the department of communications at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). His area of teaching revolves around intercultural communication and communication for development. He researches in the fields of communication media and religion in Latin America, with an emphasis on the relationship between religious capital and social mobilization. He is director of the Peace and Hope Institute, the center for formation of the Peace and Hope International Fellowship, a faith-based human rights organization. He is a member of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), and the Fraternidad Teológica Latinoamericana (FTL). Roland holds a doctorate in sociology of religion from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
- Dr. Violeta Rocha is a feminist theologian and biblical scholar specializing in the New Testament. She completed a Master of Theology at the Protestant Institute of France and has a PhD in Latin American Studies from the National University, Costa Rica. She has served as a professor of New Testament at the Universidad Biblica Latinoamericana (UBL) in San Jose, Costa Rica. She also collaborates with Biblica Virtual in Argentina, the Evangelical Faculty of Theological Studies (FEET) in Nicaragua, and with the Christian Peace Network in Latin America. She is the author of several articles in books and magazines and is a lay leader in the Church of the Nazarene.
