The Hispanic House of Studies is offering two information sessions for its Caminantes program, a weekly spiritual formation group that prepares participants for ministry among Latinos. All are invited to attend and learn about the program Sept. 1 or 8, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in 0044 Langford.
The Spanish word caminante means traveler or walker. Over the course of the academic year, those participating in Caminantes will journey together, meeting weekly to learn more about worshiping God and study the Bible from a Latino perspective, discuss texts emerging from the Latino community, and learn how to praise and pray in the language of the barrio.
In the fall semester, the caminantes will have the opportunity to attend a spiritual retreat; in the spring, they will travel further afield to experience the Methodist church in Latin America.
Open house attendees are invited to ask questions about the program and obtain an application, due Sept. 9. The first Caminantes gathering will take place Sept. 15.
