StantonThe Center for Reconciliation has announced that Allen Stanton has been named the first World Vision Justice Fellow. Stanton, M.Div. ’15, is also a Thriving Rural Communities Fellow and is pursuing ordination in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Stanton is interested in how the church can be a leader for social justice, both within the local community and throughout the world. He is a native of Nashville, N.C., and a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he studied political science and religion with a focus on international relations.

The World Vision Justice Fellowship provides a $1,500 scholarship, mentorship, and funding to complete a small-scale project that engages the wider Duke University community in a contemporary justice issue of global concern. This year, due to a generous matching grant, the scholarship will be doubled to $3,000.

The process for developing the fellows program was created in partnership with the associate dean for academic programs, the Office of Ministerial Formation, a student representative, and the director of community and student life.  Applications for the 2015-16 fellowship will be available in the spring of 2015.
