Societas Homiletica, an international academic society for teachers and scholars of preaching, has announced that the society’s 2018 conference will take place August 3-8 at Duke Divinity School. The organization chose Duke at the 2016 conference held March 11-16 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. More than one hundred homiletics scholars from around the world—from Norway to South Africa, Brazil to India—will attend the conference, which will be co-hosted by Duke Divinity School and Duke Chapel.

“This international conversation in homiletics is currently the cutting edge in our field. We are thrilled to host this remarkable gathering of scholars at Duke. It will be a very exciting week, ” said Charles Campbell, professor of homiletics.

The biannual international conference features keynote presentations, panel discussions, reflection groups, paper presentations, worship, and cultural events.

Societas Homiletica also produces the publication Studia Homiletica.
