Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church (TAPC) seeks a Director of Youth Ministry who will foster the Christian formation of the church’s and community’s youth by overseeing and setting the tone for a joyful, faithful ministry by way of befriending and ministering to youth, equipping lay leaders for service, supporting parents in their discipleship efforts at home, and propelling the engagement of youth in the life of the church. Trinity Avenue is a congregation of about five hundred members in Durham, North Carolina, with an average worship attendance of 200 across two Sunday services. TAPC strives to be a community of faith that is a catalyst for turning the hearts of the people of Durham toward one another and God through worship and ministries that connect and deepen to foster transformation by the renewing of minds in Christ Jesus. We believe youth are integral to this life and mission. Based on prayer, conversation, and discernment, the church is seeking a youth director who welcomes and connects with a diverse range of youth, excels at building relationships with young people, adults, and community organizations, and exhibits a vibrant faith and theologically rich imagination. The director will have an eye for the systems, structures, and administrative tasks necessary if youth, parents, and volunteers are to participate in programs easily. Many people find in this congregation a people who give their heart away easily, embracing newcomers warmly and happily receiving their gifts. We believe the next Director of Youth Ministry will find a loving, supportive congregation eager to work and grow with them.
