Kingswood Books recently published The Journal Letters and Related Biographical Items of the Rev. Charles Wesley, M.A., which was edited by three scholars from Duke Divinity School. It is the next volume in a series dedicated to providing a complete and accurate published collection of Charles Wesly manuscript items beyond his sermons and verse.
This new volume was edited by the late Frank Baker, Professor Emeritus of English Church History; Richard P. Heitzenrater, the William Kellon Quick Professor Emeritus of Church History and Wesley Studies; and Randy L. Maddox, William Kellon Quick Professor of Church History and Wesley Studies. All three editors undertook the work as professors in Wesley Studies and directors of The Center for Studies in the Weselyan Tradition at Duke Divinity School.
Baker was the editor of two volumes in the Bicentennial Edition of the Works of John Wesley and an expert on Wesleyan Methodism. Heitzenrater is the general editor of the Bicentennial Edition of the Works of John Wesley and a member of the board of Kingswood Books. Maddox is the associate general editor of the Bicentennial Edition of the Works of John Wesley and a recognized authority on both John Wesley's theology and the theological developments in later Methodism.
The various items included in the series constitute crucial primary texts for study of Charles Wesley’s life, his ministry, and his increasingly contentious position within Methodism in his later years.
