Film Series: "Resurrection in Pop Culture"
Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts (DITA) will continue its Image & Word film series this semester with an exploration of the resurrection through two films, The Matrix and The Usual Suspects.
The film series, which began last fall, seeks to practice the art of discerning the theological contours of a film—in its philosophical, historical, and technical components—and to deepen imaginative and pastoral acumen as viewers. It also seeks to foster community through small, informal gatherings.
The discussion-based series will be led by Th.M. and film student Naaman Wood and by DITA post-doctoral fellow Dan Train.
Viewings, lectures, and discussion will be held in Wood's home on Feb. 20 for The Matrix and on March 19 for The Usual Suspects at 6:15 p.m., with refreshments provided. Sessions are open to Divinity students, staff, and faculty only.
