2015 United Methodist Full Connection Seminar

Duke Divinity School

September 14, 2015 to September 15, 2015

This seminar is a theological workshop designed to help United Methodists participating in the ordination process prepare for their ordination papers and board interviews. It is a hybrid learning experience featuring a two-day residential event supplemented with online presentations.

Additional Opportunity: UM Full Study Leave
Participants are invited to combine this seminar with our popular Study Leave program and enroll in UM Full Study Leave Sept. 14-20. This opportunity will offer the seminar experience plus additional days in residence with access to Duke Divinity resources to begin the writing process. The program cost for UM Full Study Leave includes the cost of the UM Full Connection Seminar. Detailed information on the Study Leave opportunity, including costs, accommodations, and meals can be found on the Study Leave page.

The seminar features:

  • Interactive plenary sessions
Plenary sessions will address the themes of the disciplinary questions and provide time for questions and discussion.
  • Opportunities to hear from conference representatives regarding the ordination process
  • Opportunities for worship and community-building
  • Online access to video presentations
Following the event, participants will have access to online presentations.  These presentations, offered by distinguished faculty and practitioners, each address the disciplinary questions and can help candidates begin to write their papers and formulate their thoughts about ordination.
  • Additional support for developing papers (UM Full Study Leave only, Sept. 14-20)
Participants who choose to enroll in UM Full Study Leave can begin to write their papers and can receive informal review and critique of drafts of their papers.

Distinguished faculty and practitioners will offer video-based presentations on topics that address the traditional disciplinary questions for ordination. These videos will be available to participants for viewing following the seminar.
