POSITION DESCRIPTION The position is for a Youth Leader. The Youth Leader may be an ordained or non-ordained minister or one who has experience working with youth as a youth leader or youth education director and will provide support for the pastor with programming for youth and children, as well as with the Christian Education program. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Youth Leader will plan and coordinate a program for the church youth, primarily those youth in grades 6-12 (middle and high school). These responsibilities include: 1. Leading weekly youth group sessions during the school year. 2. Serving as a pastoral counselor and caregiver for youth people and their families, and communicating effectively with those families. 3. Serving on Committee Vacation Bible School planning team 4. Planning Youth Sunday worship services. 5. Planning retreats for youth as needed (fall and spring). 6. Planning and leading youth mission projects. 7. Planning and coordinating a program of summer events for youth. 8. Planning and supervising activities for grades K-5 throughout the year in cooperation with the Church Ministry Coordinator, including providing support and encouragement, as well as recruiting and training teachers and leadership in the Youth and Children’s divisions. 9. Participating in the extracurricular activities of youth when possible (i.e., attending sporting, recreational, and school related activities). 10. Such other responsibilities as may be requested by the Senior Pastor. The Youth Leader will plan and implement the Christian Education program of the church. The responsibilities include: 1. Working with the Christian Education Committee to provide educational events that address specific needs within the membership and life of the church and/or community. 2. Helping the Senior Pastor to lead and initiate Bible Studies, small groups, and fellowship opportunities for all ages. 3. Working with the Sunday School program for all ages as may be needed. The Youth Leader will take an active part in other ministries of the church as needed. These responsibilities include: 1. Contributing articles and updates on a regular basis to the church newsletter. 2. Participation in regular staff meetings and consultation with the Senior Pastor. 3. Attend Session meetings, as able. The job can be full time or part time hours based upon availability, the terms and hours of which are negotiable.
