Workforce Development Associate Job Description Reports To: Workforce Development Manager Job Overview The WFD Specialist will be client-focused in that most of their work will be on campus directly working with clients. Their responsibilities will range from providing WFD case management, classes on soft job skills, resume help, interview coaching, application help, job leads, etc. They must be able to interact well with people across cultures, execute quick thinking, and help multiple clients at once. Responsibilities and Duties • Run the afternoon WFD computer lab, guiding clients through trainings, helping with applications, resumes and anything else that the client may need. • Able to have a finger on the pulse of the Durham job market and provide weekly lists of job leads for clients • Able to run soft job skill classes and employment sharing classes for those already working • Posting flyers for job fairs, encouraging clients to attend and taking them to the job fairs in passenger van. • Refer clients to WFD partner agencies and coordinate partner agencies to provide services to clients on UMD campus. Direct clients to these resources when they are on UMD campus. • Perform WF Assessments to create goal plans for clients. This person will then have weekly 15-30 min meetings to provide support and accountability for the client’s goals. • Give guidance and instruction around financial literacy for clients according to their goal plan. • Record all data pertinent to UMD workforce development services. • Managing work verification document Qualifications • Cross-cultural interpersonal skills • Organized and systematic thinker • Familiarity and skill with Microsoft Office and Google Drive • Ability to build relationships with employer and service agency partners • Ability to adapt to client needs • Willingness to work as a member of the shelter employee team • Possessing empathy and accountability for our clients • High school diploma required; BA/BS preferred Job Type Up to 40 hours/wk.; $15-17/hr. (depending on experience and qualifications).
