Executive Director - Quaker House, Fayetteville, NC Who we are: For over 50 years Quaker House has operated in Fayetteville, NC, home of Ft. Bragg to manifest the Friends’ Peace Testimony in a military city. What we do: Quaker House provides counseling and support to service members who are questioning their role in the military; educates them, their families, and the public about military issues; and advocates for a more peaceful world. Seeking: We are seeking a committed leader to continue to support the Quaker House mission in Fayetteville, and in North Carolina. We seek a leader who is passionate and creative about building and maintaining a peace witness within the context of a military city. The leader will work with an excellent team and a fully engaged Board of Directors. Externally, the director will continue to grow the organization through new relationships and collaborations with other organizations engaged in seeking peaceful solutions to problems experienced by servicemen and women. The position is an exempt, full time position. Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategy • Serve as the organization’s primary community builder, spokesperson, and administrator • Work with the board and staff to construct and execute a strategic plan to expand the Quaker House mission and impact peace work across NC • Attend and speak at gatherings such as monthly, quarterly and yearly meetings of the Religious Society of Friends, other faith communities, and local partner organizations. • Articulate the Quaker House mission in an inspiring way to internal and external constituencies • Develop and supervise peace witness programs—currently Counseling, Truth-in-Recruiting, and Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Moral Injury in the Military Programs—and coordinating with the GI Rights Network; • Build a positive work culture based on justice, equity, diversity, and supportive of a productive, diverse, and professional team. • Engage in the local community, building relationships and partnerships that advance the mission • Attend military liaison meetings • Seek opportunities for growth, collaboration, and collective impact. Communications Management • Maintain the Quaker House website and presence on social media • Respond to outside inquiries from media or others Donor Relations Management • Oversee donor relations with individuals and with Monthly and Yearly Meetings. • Direct outreach and fund raising activities thru the production of 4 annual newsletters and fundraising appeals and produce relevant informational materials. Financial Management • In conjunction with the Board and Treasurer, develop, implement, and manage an annual budget for the Board's regular review and approval. • Produce relevant financial reports for regular Board review. • Ensure that finances of Quaker House are properly handled, including coordination with the Treasurer and outside accountants, bill payments, and maintenance of savings and checking accounts. • Ensure strong internal controls, fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency, and efficient, accurate, and consistent financial operations and practices. Operations and Physical Plant Management • Ensure high-quality program delivery, evaluation, and reporting systems. • Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability. • In conjunction with the Personnel Committee, Treasurer, and Finance Committee monitor work load and hours of staff. • Maintain security, repairs, custodial services and improvements for the house. • To carry out the work of Quaker House in the context of a military community, and as part of the annual compensation, the Executive Director lives at Quaker House, a craftsman-style cottage located in the Fayetteville Historic District.
