How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

  • Provide outside perspective, guidance, and leadership as we transition from a long-time pastor and discern God’s vision for our church’s future.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with our congregation, preparing us for new pastoral leadership.
  • Be a strong pastoral presence in the church community and in the wider community, helping to ground our congregation and supporting our work outside our church walls.
  • Engage the congregation in a time of purposeful discernment, envisioning and strategic planning.


Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
  • Have experience in leading congregations and Pastor Nominating Committees successfully through the process of transition from a long-term pastor to calling a new pastor.
  • Be a compassionate motivator who can understand the context, environment, history, relationships, and uniqueness of our congregation.
  • Provide effective pastoral care and counsel.
  • Be able to encourage, challenge, support and lead staff.
  • Be fully affirming of LGBTQ+ persons.
  • Be a talented worship service leader who delivers meaningful, theological, and thought-provoking sermons that help the congregation to hear what the Spirit is saying to us today.

  • Plan and lead worship
  • Administer the sacraments
  • Serve as head of staff
  • Schedule weekly staff meetings
  • Provide pastoral care and counseling as needed
  • Guide the congregation through the 5 developmental tasks of interim ministry
  • Attend Worship Committee meetings
  • Assist other committees as needed
  • Train newly elected officers
  • Meet with prospective members and assist in preparation for membership
  • Attend Presbytery meetings
  • Attend Diaconate meetings
  • Serve as Moderator of Session
  • Serve in-home (homebound) Communion
