Purpose of the Job: We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and faithful person to effectively develop and lead dynamic ministries that reach youth (6th-12th grade) and college-age students (18-25 years). This is a full-time salaried position that is under the supervision of the Associate Pastor of Spiritual Development & Communications. **We are willing to work with candidates that are looking for part-time position** Qualifications: o Possesses a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and has taken the step of believer’s baptism. o Bachelor’s degree in divinity, theology, youth ministry, youth guidance or other faith related education. Masters level work from an accredited seminary is preferred. o At least 2 year’s experience preferred in a successful and growing youth and young adult ministry position. o Exhibits a positive, energetic attitude and a genuine love and concern for youth, youth parents and young adults and is sympathetic to diverse individuals and family compositions. o Has a strong desire to see youth and young adults grow in their walk with Christ by creating encouraging and meaningful studies and fun activities. o Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and organizational and social media skills. General Responsibilities-Youth o Integrate the youth to the overall life of the church and the church to the needs of the youth. o Strive to enlist the youth in worship, Bible study, prayer, Choir and other Christian exercise. o Counsel students and/or their parents on issues relating to salvation, their overall spiritual life, college choice, vocation selection, social and family relationships. o Develop a trusting relationship with youth parents by building a partnership. o Coordinate the educational program of the Youth Division for Sunday Morning Bible Study and Wednesday Night Youth Programming. o Plan, coordinate and supervise special events for youth fellowship/fun outings, lake retreats, seasonal parties, local mission/service opportunities and concerts. o Recruit, equip, manage and train volunteers to work with young adults and youth. o Organize Camp Ridgecrest. Ridgecrest is a summer camp that our children, youth and volunteer leaders attend every August for one week. o Communicate with the Youth Advisory Council about implementing changes in the youth ministry as needed and collaborate with the Council about long-range plans for youth. o Hospital Visitation for Youth and their families. General Responsibilities-College Age Students (18-25 years) o Integrate the college age students to the overall life of the church and the church to the needs of its college age students. o Council college students and young adults on issues relating to salvation, their overall spiritual life, vocational selection, financial management, dating, engagement, marriage, pregnancy and children. o Organize events for college students that include small group opportunities for faith development, service/mission, and fun fellowship outings. o Develop a plan for college age students to meaningfully integrate into the life of our congregation, including fostering mentoring relationships and encouraging leadership positions. o Coordinate the educational program for the College Age Students Sunday Morning Bible Study. o Communicate with the Advisory Council about implementing changes in the college age student’s ministry as needed and collaborate with this Council about long-range plans for young adults. o Hospital Visitation for college age students Administrative Duties: o Publicize all youth and college age students’ events by using social media, weekly church bulletin, monthly newsletter and flyers. o Create and oversee an annual budget for youth and college age students’ ministries. o Build and maintain a record keeping system for all youth and college age students ministry related information. o Communicate effectively with the office staff on ministry-related issues. o Attend all Council and Committee meetings as requested. Pastoral Duties: o Collaborate with PMBC Community Connect committee in hopes of reaching more youth and young adults in the community. o To serve as part of the Ministerial Staff under the leadership of the Associate Pastor of Spiritual Development & Communications, and assist with pastoral leadership in Sunday morning worship and other worship experiences. o Must regularly attend PMBC outreach programs, receptions, fundraisers and special events. o Establish a supportive and open relationship with staff and volunteers. o Attend weekly pastoral meetings, training and continuing education as scheduled.
