Elementary/Middle Sunday School Teacher
Emmaus Way Church
Emmaus Way, an ecumenical church in downtown Durham, seeks a caring and enthusiastic individual to teach faith formation curriculum on Sunday nights for both our elementary and middle school children. We desire a teacher who has experience working with children and youth and who is excited to help them learn about God and have fun while doing so. This teacher will teach two classes, one with elementary age kids and the other with middle school kids. The curriculum will be provided to them by Emmaus Way. Qualified applicants must be open to an exploratory approach when teaching Bible stories and be interested in incorporating art and music. Our weekly gathering runs from 4:00–6:15 pm on Sunday nights. Applicants would need to have availability before and after the service, from around 3:30–6:30 pm. The position is for 4–6 hours of work per week, and the compensation for this position is $65/week. In addition, said teacher is required to attend quarterly meetings with the Emmaus Way Children’s Ministry Team, usually held on Sunday afternoons before their work period. The anticipated start date for this position would be in September, but the start date is flexible. Anyone interested should send a statement of interest and résumé to Elizabeth Efird at admin@emmausway.net. Please include a phone number on your résumé. We will contact references, and a background check will be required. We also strongly encourage applicants to visit our website for more information about our community: www.emmausway.net.
