PURPOSE A campus ministry internship with Duke PCM+ is an opportunity for spiritual and vocational formation by serving God and students on Duke’s campus. Campus ministry interns will have the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ in times of connection, reflection, worship and service with Duke students. Duke PCM+ seeks an intern to participate in the leadership of formal campus ministry programming and service events with undergraduate students at Duke. This individual should provide a welcoming presence for the ministry, aid students in exploration of questions that deepen and engage their faith, and invite students into Christian community on and off campus through ministry activities. This intern does not have to be Presbyterian. BASIC INTERN EXPECTATIONS The intern will serve 10-12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters for a total of 300 hours (August – May; PCM does not meet over fall break, winter break, or spring break). Specific areas of involvement in the ministry will be determined through the development of a learning-serving covenant with the campus minister. Other than leading Bible study and being present at weekly dinner and worship, the areas of ministry may be based on the intern skills and desires. These areas may include: • Connection - Outreach to potential students, especially during fall student orientation -Building one-on-one relationships with students that help them discern ways to connect faith and life, heart and mind - Attendance and leadership in 1 fall and 1 spring weekend retreat (Friday afternoon – Sunday morning) • Reflection - Leading a weekly Bible study on east or west campus on Wednesday evenings • Worship - Regular worship leadership on Sunday evenings (7:30-9pm) • Service - Participation in mission/outreach events in Durham, as selected by student L-team - Attendance at one board meeting per semester (usually 2nd Tuesday @ 5:30pm). QUALIFICATIONS • Current seminary student (preference given to Duke Divinity School MDiv students) OR individual discerning a call to ministry (does not have to be PC(USA)) • Ability to connect with and engage with students ages 18-25 • Highly organized (job entails many meetings with students) yet willingness to be flexible as the college student schedule changes frequently • Willingness to share the gospel and faith in a non-traditional ministry setting • Strong teaching ability Stipend • $4500 stipend split equally over fall and spring semesters • Additional funding may be available via discussion with supervisor and divinity school, especially if denominational placement is required by ordaining body TO APPLY Please submit a cover letter and resume to: Rev.
