DIRECTOR OF NEXT GENERATION MINISTRIES (FULL-TIME) CAMPBELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH - SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI JUNE 9, 2020 Vision of Position Campbell United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Next Generation Ministries with a contagious love for Christ, children, youth, and their families, to grow intergenerational ministry programs that build upon Campbell's rich traditions of grace, creativity, authenticity, inclusivity, and selfless service. The ideal Director of Next Generation Ministries at Campbell will: 1. have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that inspire enthusiasm and engagement with the ministries; 2. coordinate compelling and creative age-appropriate curriculum, large events, and milestones (such as confirmation) that intentionally grow children, youth, and their families in our congregation’s discipleship process; 3. facilitate close connections to Campbell’s Scouts and Small Wonders Preschool ministries, building upon their strengths and incorporating their families into the life of the larger congregation; 4. foster a creative ministry that engages children and youth through art, music, drama, athletics, service projects, etc.; 5. make personal investment of time and energy into the lives of Campbell’s children, youth, and their families both inside and outside the walls of the church; 6. lead with an authentic commitment to Campbell’s vision, mission, and core values. Requirements 1. Passion for working with youth and children, and the ability to relate well with them 2. A personal, growing relationship with Christ, and the desire and proven ability to lead others in that journey. 3. Degree in Christian education, theology, or related fields 4. 3 or more years of experience in running family, children’s, or youth ministry program 5. Excellence in inviting, organizing, mentoring, and motivating ministry volunteers who come from a diverse background of ages, gifts, and experiences 6. Familiarity with United Methodist theology 7. Proficiency in both in-person and online ministry Preferred 1. Master’s degree 2. Experience in counseling children, youth, and their families 3. Familiarity with Safe Gatherings policy and procedure Salary 1. $45,000 - $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience 2. Benefits including health insurance stipend and pension Responsibilities 1. Oversight of all Next Generation Ministries at Campbell United Methodist Church (nursery, K-5th, tweens, mid-high youth, senior high youth) and coordination with Scouts and Small Wonders Preschool a. Develop a Next Generation strategic vision and direction with measurable goals and benchmarks b. Establish a master ministry plan, including a calendar of events and communication plan c. Manage the Next Generation Ministries budget effectively d. Supervise all paid and volunteer staff in Next Generation Ministries 2. Identification, recruitment, development of leaders (adult, youth, and children) and others serving in the ministry a. Develop and nurture teams of volunteer leaders who are committed to strategic visioning and planning b. Design and implement training programs that effectively equip all Next Generation paid staff, volunteer leaders, teachers, and other people serving in the ministry c. Oversee development, maintenance, and implementation of Safe Gatherings policies and procedures 3. Equipping and implementing specific areas within Next Generation Ministries a. Create intentional opportunities for parents to grow in their faith and build relationships b. Organize weekly, seasonal, and annual intergenerational discipleship opportunities for children, youth, and their families c. Implement other specific areas within Next Generation Ministries according to the church’s needs and the director’s personal gifts 4. Outreach to, and engagement of, children, youth and families a. Engage meaningfully with families currently active at Campbell, and increase retention of children and youth through creative continuity b. Cultivate an environment that is welcoming and invitational to new families c. Establish and manage an effective process for identifying, welcoming, and following-up with visiting and new families at Campbell d.
