The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Cashiers, North Carolina seeks candidates in the Episcopal Ordination process to serve as CURATE. Candidates may be transitional deacons or recently ordained priests. In the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, curacy is a time of ongoing formation and further education in Holy Orders, allowing a newly ordained priest to experience many aspects of parish ministry with an end goal of developing the skills and qualities of a rector. The Rector and curate agree to ongoing mentoring to track progress, identify goals, and address areas of growth. Some Essential Gifts and Skills: • Faith: Sharing the Love of God as known in Christ in all circumstances. • Leadership: Motivates and inspires others. Helps people fulfill their baptismal covenant. • Communication: Communicates well both verbally and in writing. • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to love and serve the people among whom you work, caring alike for young and old, strong and weak, rich and poor. Establishes trust, credibility, and confidence with others; has a healthy sense of humor. Good Shepherd is parish filled with people with hearts to serve, worship, and live into our baptismal covenant. Cashiers is a special, seasonal community in Western North Carolina.
