Associate Rector
Eucharist Church (ACNA)
Overview: Eucharist Church is a thriving Anglican (ACNA) congregation in the heart of San Francisco, connecting ancient forms of Christian faith to the lives of 21st century people. We are a vibrant, growing, intergenerational, ethnically-diverse community of disciples seeking to live all of life in reference to Christ. Our vision is to be a “resource church” for the Bay Area - planting faithful, Christ-centered churches effective in extending the gospel into a post-Christian culture and discipling people across the region. We are searching for a well-qualified candidate to join our pastoral team as our Associate Rector. Learn more about us at eucharistSF.org. The Position: The Associate Rector works in close partnership with the Rector to execute the vision and assist in overseeing the ministry of Eucharist Church. The Associate Rector is a trusted and dependable collaborator bringing synergy to the work of ministry. The Associate Rector position exists in part to care for the day-to-day ministry of the church in order to allow the Rector to focus on developing the big picture vision of Eucharist Church, specifically that of becoming a “resource church” to better serve the Bay Area. Primary Responsibilities: * Leadership development / leadership care: finding, developing/training/mentoring, delegating, and caring for leaders * Strengthening, managing, and delegating ministries (Table Groups, Compassion ministries, congregational care ministries - men, women, marriage, etc.) * Envisioning and developing ministries to enhance our outreach efforts and congregational care * Assisting with liturgy, celebrating Holy Communion, serving as part of the pastoral/sacramental team in public worship * Preaching 14-20 times a year (or as needed) * Weekly catechesis / teaching * Congregational Care: addressing needs, pastoral care, and discipleship Details: * Full Time (exempt) * Compensation: we have developed a robust package of salary and benefits which responsibly addresses San Francisco’s high cost of living. Benefits include health and retirement; stipend for continuing education, ministry resources (books, etc.), and technology The Candidate We’re Seeking: The candidate we’re seeking is an experienced, visionary leader - someone able to inspire others and build teams. The candidate is capable of running a church / ministries - familiar with budgeting, managing personnel, strategy, and vision. The candidate is confident yet humble, a great communicator, emotionally-connective with high EQ allowing him to work well and collaborate as part of a team. He is a strong teacher; preaching has the potential to be one of his greatest gifts. Our candidate is committed to a “three-stream” (sacramental, charismatic, and evangelical) model of church and drawn to serving in a post-Christian, urban environment such as San Francisco. The candidate is culturally aware, but (more importantly) deeply grounded in the Christian Tradition and the Word of God. He is completely aligned with our Eucharist vision, mission, and cultural ethos. He is committed to a high view of the church as God’s means of salvation, having a well-developed sacramental-missional-ecclesiology. The candidate is informed and skilled as a liturgist/celebrant, desiring to serve in a vibrant (non-stuffy) Anglo-catholic + contemporary leaning liturgical context (full vestments, smells/bells, seven sacraments, hymns + contemporary + sacred choral music… yet open to gathering in a non-traditional setting). Our ideal candidate is someone looking to grow into a rector role in the near future - potentially helping us flesh out our local church-planting strategy which seeks to address the fact that there are only 4 Anglican churches currently engaging a population of over 7 million people in the Bay Area. Qualifications: * 5-7+ years proven experience as a priest/pastor * Masters of Divinity or higher degree * Ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church in North America, or eligible for transfer into the ACNA * Theologically / missionally aligned with Eucharist Church; spiritually mature * Gifted and experienced preacher / teacher
