Introductory Statement The Associate Pastor for Children and Families serves the church as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While the calling and gifts of the Associate Pastor lie primarily in the area of ministry to, for, and with children and their families, they are a valued, integral member in the life of the larger congregation, the Broadway Staff, and the Pastoral Team. Principal Function The Associate Pastor for Children and Families reports to the Pastor and is responsible for developmentally-appropriate discipleship of the children and their parents. They provide leadership within the Children and Family Ministry, and in collaboration with the Children’s Committee, the Children’s Music Ministry, the Broadway Staff, Pastoral Team, and the larger congregation. This is a full-time, salaried position as an exempt employee of Broadway Baptist Church. Areas of Responsibility PASTORAL ROLE - Mentoring, teaching, and cultivating the faith formation of the children and their families. - Coordinate and implement Children’s Sunday School, Midweek programming, childcare / worship care, special events, retreats, missions, parent/guardian enrichment, and any other fellowship and faith formation opportunities. - Offer pastoral care to individual children and families, particularly in times of crisis. - Participate in the rhythm of the pastoral life (preaching, worship, pastoral care, etc.). - Reach out and engage guests to invite them into the life of the church. LEADERSHIP - Recruit, equip, empower, and manage a team of lay leaders to work closely with the children and their families. - Connect the strategic vision of the church into the yearly, monthly, and weekly life of the children and their families. - Communicate with children, parents, leaders, and the church regularly and consistently. - Serve as liaison to the Children’s Committee. - With the Pastoral Team and appropriate committees, create and adhere to policies based on best practices at Broadway and the broader community. - Liaise between the Children’s Ministry, Broadway Staff, and the Deacon Body. - Resolve conflict in the Children’s Ministry in a timely, effective, compassionate manner. COLLABORATION - Contribute to the planning, preparing, and leading of worship services as a fully engaged member of the Pastoral Team. - Collaborate with the Broadway Staff for planning, calendaring, and space usage. - Establish the scope and sequence of faith formation that harmonize with the strategic vision of the church. - Solicit feedback and input from families, church leaders, and ministry stakeholders. - Partner with other Pastoral Team members to engage children and families in faith formation, music, worship, missions, etc. - Submit and maintain a balanced, responsible budget with timely expense reporting. - Generate content for newsletter, website, and publicity, and work with the Assistant for Communications and Operations. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Salary Range: Upper 40s plus medical, vision, dental benefits, 403(b) retirement matching, professional development, relocation costs, etc.
