Duke Divinity School will co-sponsor an online public conversation with Ronnie Long, who was granted a pardon of innocence by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper in December 2020 after spending more than 40 years in prison for a rape he did not commit, and the Rev. Cari Wills, his pastor for the past five years.
The other sponsors of the public lecture are the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute and Duke Divinity School's Center for Reconciliation, Hispanic House of Studies, and Office of Black Church Studies.
This lecture is part of the school's Prison Studies Spring Lecture Series, which will sponsor conversations with people intimately familiar with life behind bars and outside of visiting hours to learn how the church is complicit in aggravating these situations.
